Son Of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, is the sequel to the 2012 hit Son Of Sardaar. This time, the film released on 1st August 2025 with high expectations, especially from fans of Ajay Devgn’s comic timing and Punjabi-style storytelling.
The movie is produced by Ajay Devgn, Jitu Deshpande, and Shri Prakash Taleja. It blends comedy, action, family emotions, and a bit of patriotism — just like its predecessor.
Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Jassi, a loud yet lovable Punjabi man. The film also stars:
Mrunal Thakur as Rabia (Jassi’s love interest)
Ravi Kishan in a hilarious supporting role
Neeru Bajwa as a strong female lead
Sanjay Mishra and Chunkey Pandey add extra comic punch
Late Mukul Dev appears in his final role
The story follows Jassi, who lands in another family drama after lying about being a war hero. What starts as a small lie turns into a big mess involving two Punjabi families, a wedding, and lots of chaos.
The plot is full of classic Bollywood-style misunderstandings, cultural humor, and action sequences that appeal to family audiences.
The trailer was launched in early July 2025 and got mixed responses.
While fans loved seeing Ajay Devgn in his classic comic style, some viewers felt the jokes and plot seemed outdated. Still, the film generated strong buzz on social media due to nostalgia and Ajay Devgn’s mass following.
Ajay Devgn delivers a strong performance with his typical desi swag.
Ravi Kishan steals many scenes with his comic timing.
Some emotional moments connect well with family audiences.
The script feels weak and predictable in parts.
Many jokes seem repetitive and don't land well.
The film relies too much on old-style comedy instead of offering something fresh.
Music plays a big role in the film’s mood. The soundtrack includes work by:
Jaani
Tanishk Bagchi
Himesh Reshammiya
Sunny Vik
Harsh Upadhyay
Popular songs include:
Pehla Tu Duja Tu (romantic)
Nachdi (party number)
The Po Po Song Reloaded (funny and energetic)
While the music supports the film's tone, it hasn’t gone viral yet.
Opening Day (1 August 2025):
The movie opened with around ₹5.5 crore in India.
While this is lower than expected, it still had a decent start due to loyal fans and single-screen audience.
Competition:
The film faced stiff competition from recent releases like Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha.
It will need strong word of mouth to do well in the second week.
CBFC asked the makers to change a few dialogues before giving it a U/A certificate. One of the controversial lines (“like a dog”) was modified.
Meanwhile, fans were happy to see a surprise cameo by Rohit Shetty, hinting at Golmaal 5 in the final scene.
On social media, many viewers called it a “masala entertainer,” while others found it old-fashioned.
If you're looking for light-hearted family entertainment, Son Of Sardaar 2 is a fun weekend watch.
The humor is clean, the emotions are relatable, and the Punjabi flavour is intact. However, if you expect a modern or smart comedy, you might feel a bit disappointed.
